I’ve got a great treat for everyone today!  Jamie is one of our Senior Firelight Spokesmodels, and we’re really proud to have her on our team.   We had a lot of fun with her doing her senior portraits.  We decided for this session to do a bit of nice elegance in a garden and then also move over to some of our favorite locations for an urban session, which is one of our specialties.  I absolutely love the photos, and have been wanting to get you all a sneak peek of these up as soon as I could.  I’ve been so busy creating alot of stuff lately, mainly alot of wedding albums, which are fun, but I usually can’t show those on the blog until they are done… so here’s something I can show!  Thanks, Jamie!  We had so much fun with you and we’re looking forward to your second session!

One of the really cool perks of wedding photography is that I occasionally get to photograph for friends.  Such was the case just a couple weeks ago, as Ben & Liz commissioned us to be a part of their wedding.  What an honor!

The wedding took place in Town and Country, Missouri, which is just a skip away from St. Louis.  Liz had picked a simply GORGEOUS location for their reception.  We had a whole lot of fun with Ben, Liz, and their whole wedding party.  It was really a great tiime.  I wanted to share a few of their portraits with all of you, and I hope you enjoy them!  (Edit: For some reason, they uploaded in reverse order… sorry!)

To Ben and Liz, we wish our blessings upon your new marriage!  May God bless you and your marriage, and we very much look forward to you all being in our ‘neck of the woods’ really soon!

Believe it or not, senior season is starting!  It always sneaks up on us every year, but maybe not quite as much this year since we’ve really really been planning for it!  This year, our 2010 Firelight Seniors are in for a real treat!  We are offering a whole new collection of totally awesome senior gear, like brand new photo books with metal or canvas covers, sweet grad cards (waaaaaay better than balfour’s if I may say so!), brag books, and lots more that are sure to rock your socks off!

For us, Senior phtography is really a blast!  We love having the chance to sit down with him or her, talk over their ideas, expectations, tastes, and overal opinions on their senior portrait session.  We absolutely LOVE to be creative, and senior sessions really allow for it!   We really offer alot of really cool options that seniors love, especially grunge and urban sessions that are just totally cool!  When we got to sit down with Denham, we decided on exactly that — a really cool grunge session outdoors with his rocking truck and creative personality.

So, before you enjoy the photos, I wanted to make one announcement.  We are currently taking applications for our 2010 Firelight Spokesmodels!  Are you a graduating senior within 75 miles of Murray, KY?  Are you outgoing?  Do you have a fun personality, and are you a positive influence on your peers?  If so, we’re interested in you!  We are taking up to three Firelight spokesmodels from each school to be part of our team of exclusive seniors for the 2010 year.  If you’d like to be part of out team, contact us right away to apply!  Our spokesmodels get a free session up to four hours, lots of show-off gear, and the opportunity to earn LOTS of print credit!  We hope to see you as a part of our team!

Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep

Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep

As many of you know, Laura and I are expecting our first son within just a few weeks!  We of course are so excited and thrilled to be new parents, sharing our lives with our young William Asher Spencer.  We really love kiddos, and are pumped to finally have a child of our own.

Last month, we attended a photography conference in Nashville, TN.  While there, we were introduced to a wonderful opportunity that just pulls at my heartstrings, especially as we are readying to become new parents.  After giving it some consideration, this week, Laura and I joined this really, really great charity, and I wanted to let you all know about it.   Its called ‘Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep‘, named after a simple bedtime prayer, and is a charity that serves families that are suffering through pregnancy and infant loss with the gift of free, professional portraiture. We can honestly think of no better way to use our talents should the need arise for parents of such tragic occurrences.

In the future, we’ll be involved with offering fundraiser activities through our studio for the benefit of the organization.  If you’re interested in making a donation,Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, IRS EIN# 77-0656322.   All proceeds go directly into the operation of this organization to help parents who are experiencing an early infant loss.   Furthermore, for anyone who makes a $75 contribution, contact us with a copy of your receipt and we’ll give you a $100 gift certificate good for  any session at Firelight Studios.

Below is a video explaining more about Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep.  You might not want to watch it at work, as it will really tug at your heart.

We had little Trent over to the studio for his 9 mo. portrait session — it is always alot of fun when Chris and Kennette bring him.  We were going to have a rabbit in the studio, but as luck would have, the store was sold out in just three hours.  :-)   Nonetheless, we opted for ‘Plan B’, which ended up being just as cute: Three little ducklings.  At first Trent didn’t know what to think, but he and the ducks quickly learned allllllll about each other!  Chris and I were laughing so hard.  I made a little comic strip about the duck and his escape from the clutches of Trent.  If you look, you can see the duck leaping out of the basket to make his getaway.  So funny!!!!  Enjoy!
