Last week, Micah and Abbie brought in little Brodie to the studio. Micah and I have been friends since High School, and we played soccer together in both High School and College. When Brodie came in for his six month photos, what else could we do but soccer photos?!? Actually, we decided to do a couple things, one being some really cool soccer shots in his jersey and super cool baby-Sambas, and some really cool other stuff too, which you’ll see below. They turned out GREAT… Brodie was so much fun!
Few things are more fun than getting to do an engagement session (and a wedding, too!) with friends! When Mel & Heath asked us if we would do their wedding, what else could we say but OF COURSE! They are a really great couple, and guess what? So are their photos, too! I wanted to share just a few photos from their engagement session. We had a great time and lots of fun out at the lake and also in the quad area of MSU. They are really photogenic, and we’re so looking forward to their wedding!
Mel & Heath are using some of the images from their engagement portrait session to place in their wedding guest sign-in album. This is a new offering for us, and its really, really cool. Basically, we have taken our 10″ x 10″ Shine book and left an open page on each spread with room for signatures, blessings, and notes from attendees. It has become really popular as the guest sign-in album.
Without further adieu, here’s to you, Mel & Heath!
As many of you know, Laura and I are expecting our first son within just a few weeks! We of course are so excited and thrilled to be new parents, sharing our lives with our young William Asher Spencer. We really love kiddos, and are pumped to finally have a child of our own.
Last month, we attended a photography conference in Nashville, TN. While there, we were introduced to a wonderful opportunity that just pulls at my heartstrings, especially as we are readying to become new parents. After giving it some consideration, this week, Laura and I joined this really, really great charity, and I wanted to let you all know about it. Its called ‘Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep‘, named after a simple bedtime prayer, and is a charity that serves families that are suffering through pregnancy and infant loss with the gift of free, professional portraiture. We can honestly think of no better way to use our talents should the need arise for parents of such tragic occurrences.
In the future, we’ll be involved with offering fundraiser activities through our studio for the benefit of the organization. If you’re interested in making a donation,Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, IRS EIN# 77-0656322. All proceeds go directly into the operation of this organization to help parents who are experiencing an early infant loss. Furthermore, for anyone who makes a $75 contribution, contact us with a copy of your receipt and we’ll give you a $100 gift certificate good for any session at Firelight Studios.
Below is a video explaining more about Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. You might not want to watch it at work, as it will really tug at your heart.
We had little Trent over to the studio for his 9 mo. portrait session — it is always alot of fun when Chris and Kennette bring him. We were going to have a rabbit in the studio, but as luck would have, the store was sold out in just three hours. Nonetheless, we opted for ‘Plan B’, which ended up being just as cute: Three little ducklings. At first Trent didn’t know what to think, but he and the ducks quickly learned allllllll about each other! Chris and I were laughing so hard. I made a little comic strip about the duck and his escape from the clutches of Trent. If you look, you can see the duck leaping out of the basket to make his getaway. So funny!!!! Enjoy!
Well, wedding season is for sure under way! We love it, too. Every wedding is different, and its alot of fun to me to be able to capture the moments and emotions on such a day. We just finished a wedding in Louisville, and it was great! So here’s to Brandi & Justin… congrats on your marriage, and what a great day it was! A few sneak peek photos to whet your appetite. More will be up very soon.
